Monte Quarin towers above Cormòns like a bastion that gives protection to the Centre. On its basis it is possible to see the ancient Churchof San Giovanni with the little district with the same name around. (see photo), This is one of the first built-up areas of the city, together with the "centa" (see photo) around the Duomo. The city center has spread all around these two important areas. On the slopes of the mountain we can find a Sanctuary (see photo), dedicated to "Beata Vergine del Soccorso". On the top (see photo) the remainders of the i resti della Fortress (see photo) prooves the strategic role the city had from the Roman Empire till the Hapsburg dominion. In order to reach the top of the mount, a place from where it is possible to have a beautiful panorama (see photo) of the city from the Alps to the Adriatic you can climb up to the Sanctuary by car and then continue on by walk.

Strada del vino is a very pleasant tourist route, which can be followed by bike or by car through interesting natural areas neighbouring with Slovenian Republic. It turns right round Monte Quarin, starting from Cormòns. Coming out from the city centre in the direction of Slovenia, just close to the sulphur spring named Faêt there is a little path on the right that leads to Pradis wine-producing hilly area. It spreads till the stream Versa and the adjacent lake named "Laghetto (anim.) delle Fornaci". After this fork Strada del Vino reachs La Subida, a place known for its church (see photo) and for its numerous tourist farmhouses. Then the road goes on in the direction of Prevàl (a place that once was a swamp and now is a reclaimed land) reaching Plessiva.

Behind Monte Quarìn there is a vast rural area of Plessiva (site), in which you can find a natural reserve. It is a park placed on the slopes north of Monte Quarin, got from an abandoned powder magazine. Today this area is an 33 hectares wide oasis with oaks, chestnuts and locust trees. There are also a lot of wild animals. It's an ideal place to go to for a walk, with numerous pic-nic areas.
